Moc Bai is about 80 km and 2 hours from central Saigon up National Highway QL22, and a round trip costs only 100,000–150,000 VND in fuel (or 150,000–250,000 VND for a day rental). You still pay the same Cambodia visa and border fees, and you must leave early enough to clear both checkpoints and ride back before dark. Riding your own motorbike is the cheapest at roughly 1,000,000 VND all-in including fuel and a Cambodia visa. Without a bike, the public bus from Ben Xe Mien Dong (Binh Thanh district) toward Tay Ninh and Moc Bai takes 2.5–3 hours and costs about 200,000 VND round trip — but the last bus back leaves in the afternoon, so border delays can force an expensive xe om ride home. The Cambodia visa-on-arrival at Bavet is single-entry and valid for 30 days — long enough for a border run, but it expires the moment you leave Cambodia back into Vietnam. If you plan several border runs in a short period, tell us: we can coordinate Cambodia e-visa applications or advise on multi-entry options so you do not pay the visa-on-arrival fee repeatedly.
Don't book one. The full run takes 11–12 hours, returning to Saigon around 17:00–18:00, and border queues can push that later. The only safe way to fly the same day is a red-eye after 22:00 — and even then a border delay makes it stressful.
